We have a range of career opportunities across our teams resulting from new commissions.Cornwall Council has recently been successful in obtaining Department for Transport (DfT) funding for the St Austell to A30(T) Link Road; and we are undertaking the preliminary design (project value £85million). We are also supporting the council’s growth programmes for housing, infrastructure and environmental enhancements. These programmes have a four year implementation timetable, and will bring other associated works for up to 10 years from implementation.
We are the single biggest employer of infrastructure engineering staff in Cornwall, with over 120 staff and an annual turnover of £8million.
We provide engineering and technical services to Cornwall Council and the private sector covering all areas of infrastructure design and development throughout Cornwall and beyond.
Our highways design team is responsible for all aspects of the design and specification of road schemes, including major new roads, local improvements, minor junction and drainage enhancements and developer proposals. They offer a range of specialist expertise in the fields of transportation modelling, accident investigation and prevention, urban infrastructure, Traffic Regulation Orders, and the built environment. They also have considerable experience in developing infrastructure for sustainable transport modes, including walking, cycling and all forms of public transport.Our aim is to develop creative and innovative design solutions that are sympathetic to our environment.
The structures design team inspect, maintain, assess and design bridges and retaining walls on Cornwall’s road network and public rights of way, and support the highways design team on major projects. They also provide coastal protection and harbour inspection, maintenance and repair services and structural advice and assessment of new, occupied and disused buildings, including historical mining features which is a significant part of Cornwall’s heritage.
Our in-house UKAS accredited laboratory undertakes geotechnical and environmental investigations, mining remediation, materials testing and asbestos sampling and testing.
Our teams have made significant contributions to the success of strategically important highway schemes in Cornwall including:
- Design of the A30 Temple to Higher Carblake Improvement (project value £60million)
- Bodmin town enhancement
- A391 Carluddon improvement (project value £11million)
- Truro Eastern District Centre including a park and ride facility (project value £17million)
- Multi-award winning Jubilee Pool refurbishment in Penzance (project value £3million).
