Apprenticeships

We provide a diverse range of services to Cornwall Council, other public bodies and a portfolio of private clients including major civil engineering contractors and consulting engineers. We have a total workforce of around 1650 and we are always interested in hearing from you if you are looking at an apprenticship in the future. Our advertised vacancies will be on our job listings.

What qualifications do you gain?

National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) (practical)

To gain your NVQ an assessor will regularly visit your workplace and you will be assessed on practical work based tasks.  These assessments are led by you and in some instances can take place in college.

Technical Certificate/Diploma (theory)

Depending on your apprenticeship you will attend a local college or other training provider.  This will be on a day release or block release basis.

Functional skills/Key skills

Your apprenticeship will also develop your Functional/Key Skills, including Maths, English and in some frameworks ICT.  You will be encouraged to develop your Functional Skills further in the workplace.

Personal development

In addition to your employment specific training you will also attend sessions which will help you to develop as an individual and increase your value to an employer.

  • Equality and diversity
  • Health and safety
  • Business enterprise
  • Personal finance
