A38 Carkeel Roundabout
We are currently working on phase two of the Carkeel roundabout scheme. This will see the existing roundabout improved to handle greater volumes of traffic, including the installation of signals managed by smart technology.
The construction of this scheme will be delivered in seven phases, with 'off-highway' works being carried out during daytime hours. Works that involve working on the road are carried out during night time hours, and under traffic management.
For more information on the background of this scheme please visit the Cornwall Council project webpage.
Last updated Monday 19 June
- From Monday 19 June for approximately three weeks, the westbound arm of Carkeel roundbout will be closed from 8pm until 6am. This means traffic heading into Cornwall should use the southbound arm of the roundabout (towards Lidl) and take the third turning at the next roundabout (Burraton Road). Turning right at the next roundabout will take you to the Latchbrook junction where you will rejoin the A38.
- From Monday 12 June, we shall be adjusting the traffic management to reflect the new roundabout layout. During daytime working we shall be working within the traffic management layout to install some traffic islands, drainage, signage, traffic signals. Additional lane closures will be in place during the night to allow us to construct the kerbs and complete the traffic islands. Details of both day and night traffic management layout here.
Please note that this date has changed from 7 June. This is because ongoing, and sometimes torrential, rainfall prevented us from installing the white lines on the new surface.
