Tretherras School shared-use footpath

As part of planned footway improvements, works will soon be underway to approximately 550m of footpath, within the east and west playing fields of Newquay Tretherras Secondary School.

We will begin at the end of June, working during and out of term time, from 7.30am until 5pm. It is anticipated that the project will complete by the end of November 2022.

What

Footway widening, improvements and associated works.

Where

Western and Eastern playing fields of Newquay Tretherras School.

When

27 June, to the end of November 2022.

Why

The scheme is designed to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, and to promote active travel.

What works are taking place?

Starting with the West playing field the three-metre-wide footpath, will include new drainage, street lighting, CCTV and signage. The existing Toucan Crossing on Trevenson Road will then be relocated and replaced with a new raised Toucan crossing, that will provide a safe crossing point, between the two footpaths. We will move on to the East playing field in early September.

Access Arrangements & Safety Access will be maintained throughout the program, with the use of diversion routes. As we progress along the path, we will need to close sections to provide a safe working space for our team, and to allow safe operation of plant and machinery.

Suitable barrier systems will be in place to separate pedestrians from hazards, and to provide a safe route around our works.

Please be supportive by respecting our the, signage and the safety instructions given.

We will always do our best to accommodate the day to day requirements of those affected by our works. Access will be maintained as much as is possible., and emergency access will be maintained at all times.

All of our sites are appropriately risk assessed and have strict safeguarding measures, in line with current Health & Safety, and Public Health guidance.
