Cormac have been appointed to carry out Section 278 works for the second phase of The Goldings development in Newquay. The project started in November. It is anticipated that our works will take in the region of twenty weeks. This taking us to around the beginning of April next year.
In November 2020 the set-up of our compound, located south of the development site itself. Traffic management (including signing, lighting, guarding and narrowed lanes) were set up.
After this, removal of existing streetlights (which will later be replaced as required). The team then excavated in preparation for the widening of the highway and other construction activity.
We will be working north of A392 on eastbound approach to Treloggan roundabout. Whilst we carry out construction of new kerbs, a bus shelter and ducting work. Two-way traffic lights will be place. All works under traffic control will be undertaken during the night.
Day works on the south side of A392 between Trevemper and Treloggan. Which includes more ducting work followed by the installation of traffic light poles.
Night-time working under traffic lights. This is to construct new footways and the traffic islands (for the traffic light heads). Installation of one pedestrian crossing, refuge islands at the crossing points. Plus dropped kerbs, tactile paving and also streetlights.
Night working only for final surfacing works to the new and existing carriageways. This will be followed by road markings, anti-skid and demobilising from site.
Due to the start of a seasonal Easter embargo. All work from March 22nd onwards which need temporary traffic lights have to be carried out at night. Works will continue during the day. With minimal disruption as full traffic flow will be maintained at all times.
The road is going to be closed for a second time between 19th April – 30th April. This is for resurfacing of the roads, which includes Treloggan roundabout. Access and egress for residents of the Persimmon Homes site will be maintained at all times. The roundabout will reopen for use as soon as it is ready.
Up to the embargo mentioned above. To ensure the workforce can carry out the work safely. Works will continue under multi-way temporary traffic signals between 08:00-17:00. This traffic management may cause delays in the area. To minimise impact on commuters they will be manually controlled at all times.
