Cormac helps achieve Gold for Trenance Gardens in Newquay

Created 16 Nov, 2017

We are delighted to announce Trenance Gardens secured gold and won this year’s National Britain in Bloom Awards in the Coastal (over £12k) category.

The result is great news for Cormac, who have been working in partnership with Newquay in Bloom at the gardens. We designed the bedding schemes and hanging baskets, and all the plants used were grown at our own nursery. We also ensured all the routes were tidy and clean, grass was cut and shrubberies pruned where necessary.

A bed planted entirely of succulents - thick and fleshy plants which store more water - gained a lot of attention and “brought a unique concept to the garden” according to the judges.

Judges stated that: “Trenance Gardens brought a spectacular end to the horticultural journey, with Brian Nicholas (Cormac’s Nursery and High Amenity Chargehand) on hand to explain the fantastic gardens that have been created.”

The judges also noted that as it was pleasing to see a Cormac apprentice on site, learning from an experienced gardener.

Newquay is one of over 3,000 cities, towns, villages and urban communities to take part each year in Britain in Bloom, to demonstrate their achievements in environmental responsibility, community participation and horticultural achievement.
