China Clay Area and Luxulyan

It's that time of year again. Our salt barns are stocked up, and our teams are ready to be called into action to keep Cornwall moving through the winter months. When gritting the roads, our decisions are based on road temperatures rather than air temperatures. We'll usually salt the roads when the road temperature is near freezing. Factors such as moisture, rainfall, heat retention and time of day or night will also influence the decision. Since ice and frost typically form overnight, we usually treat the roads after the evening peak traffic period or before the morning rush to minimise disruption. However, if the situation calls for it, we will treat the roads during the day and appreciate your patience with any delays.
